"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?"

- Epicurus

I find myself thinking a lot, about the Christians view of God.  The way he is portrayed us less of a god and more of a genie.  Granting wishes for the world, and making magic, and solving all problems if you pray the right way.
To me, he is rather like an Abusive Husband.  Whenever something bad goes on, he tells you its your fault for his sin.  He tells you you would be nothing without him.  He says he's better than you and you don't deserve him, yet he takes you in out of "grace."
That is very much like when I was in an abusive relationship.  He made me feel bad for myself, said I was nothing without him.

The whole Christian religion is very much like a cult.  Trying to change you, saying you don't deserve heaven, labeling everyone, forcing people into the religion out of fear of going to this "Hell" which I believe does not exist.  I believe we are all in this "Hell."  But thats another story.

Many people also believe that when something goes wrong in your life, its ether The devil or God punishing you for your sin.  I will talk about both these theories.

The Devil is supposed to be the root of all evil, he is supposed to be behind anything bad that happens. He is also, in my eyes, an excuse for Christians to do bad things and blame it on the Devil. "Satan put these thoughts in my head."  "The Devil made me rape that person." "The Devil possessed me and caused me to kill my wife/husband and kids." "The Devil told me to rob that bank."  It goes on and on.
Can it be that Satan did not make you kill those people or rob that bank?  Can it be that you're just a fucked up person?

The Devil is also blamed for things like car crashes, fires, murders, falling down the stairs and breaking a bone, deaths, etc.  Can it be that you just have bad luck?  Or that it happened because the person was being stupid, not because The Devil's out to get them?

That is why I do not believe in an Evil God who does all wrong.  I believe in evil spirits, yes, but not the Devil.

People link illnesses and problems in your life to your 'unconfessed sin.'  Even if the person did not deserve the illness (Whether it be Health-wise or Mental), abuse, loss of money, or death of a family member, etc.   If God is punishing innocent people for sins that they may or may not have committed, thats pretty fucked up.  I don't think that every bad thing is linked to sin or linked to Satan.  Just that its bad Karma or bad luck.

That being said, I really hope that this does not offend anyone.  I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I'm simply stating whats in my mind.
Just a Wiccan's thoughts on the Christians God.

At some point, I will be going into more depth on how I don't believe in The Devil.

People need rules. Religion is just a way to control people. Beyond many other reasons. For some it works, others it doesn't. That's why we have the freedom of choice.
